Hanson Consulting Group Establishes Diversity & Inclusion Committee

We have always celebrated individuality at HCG - our jobs, our clients, and our doors are always open to welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life (not to mention that we also operate to the beat of our own drum!). Like many, however, we wanted to learn and do more.

So, this spring we formally established the Hanson D&I Committee - a team comprised of Hanson employees who are passionate about helping propel our organization forward in learning, leading, and becoming advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

In June, we invited the team to attend a voluntary, virtual D&I training in support of Pride month and had an astounding number of employees attend and participate (close to 90%!). We explored new topics with our friends from 6Stride, and it was an incredible afternoon. The best part? It was a forum where our team members felt comfortable asking questions and opening up to share their experiences. Wow. We realized during that training just how important programs like this one are, and we were excited to have delivered such a positive first experience.

Our goal with this committee is to listen to what our team wants and needs, and then provide more than the occasional training. We are fully committed to creating a long-term internal program that will engage with our team and evolve as our company changes and grows.

We look forward to exploring the topics of privilege and bias in the workplace this fall, and we already have some fun ideas and ways to engage with our team throughout the year.
